At Chippewa Creek Dental, we want to inspire you to a healthier smile by helping you understand the ways in which excellent oral health can benefit your life. Part of this process includes explaining things in detail and answering all your questions, no matter how small.
There's a lot to know about your dental care and we don’t expect you to be an expert, so please don’t ever feel embarrassed about asking a question. If it matters to you, it matters to us!
We have shared a few of the questions we hear most often from our patients, but your smile is unique so you probably have some of your own. If you don't see your question here, please don't hesitate to call our office or fill out our convenient online contact form.
We understand that it can sometimes be difficult to budget for dental treatment, so we are pleased to offer third-party financing through CareCredit.
CareCredit is a solution that is designed for you to receive the care you need when you need it, then pay off the balance in manageable monthly amounts. Many of our patients who wouldn’t otherwise be able to get treatment can now enjoy the benefits of a healthy smile with financing geared to their needs.
The first step is to apply at our office or online at CareCredit.com. Approval usually only takes minutes. Then you choose a period in which to pay off the balance (6, 12, 18, or 24 months) and a monthly amount that you can comfortably fit into your budget. If you stay current with payments and pay off the balance in the agreed-upon period, you will not be charged any interest!
You only have to apply for CareCredit once, and it can also be used like a healthcare credit card for expenses like vision care, dermatology, cosmetic treatments, and even veterinary expenses.
We want high-quality dental care to be accessible to everyone, and CareCredit helps us accomplish that. Please call our Seville, OH dental office if you would like more information.
If you wince when you consume hot or cold foods, you may have a common problem – sensitive teeth. Tooth sensitivity is one of the most common dental complaints and can occur for several reasons, including:
- Tooth decay
- Teeth grinding
- Worn tooth enamel
- Periodontal (gum) disease
- Defective fillings
- Cracked or fractured teeth
- Exposed tooth roots
Dentin is the layer beneath your enamel, and it contains tiny tubules that extend from the outside of your tooth to the nerve in the center. If dentin is exposed, these tubes are stimulated by changes in temperature, which can result in sensitivity and pain. Tooth sensitivity can have a dramatic impact on your life and can even change your eating and drinking habits.
However, sensitive teeth can be treated. Our Seville dentists may recommend desensitizing toothpaste or suggest other appropriate treatment based on the cause of your sensitivity. But one of the most beneficial things you can do for yourself if you want to avoid tooth sensitivity is to practice proper oral hygiene.
If you are experiencing sensitivity, please call Chippewa Creek Dental to arrange an appointment. At that time, we will be happy to talk to you about your daily oral hygiene routine and concerns about your sensitivity.
Bridges and Same-Day Crowns
Your teeth withstand a lot of wear and tear over the years, and dental enamel is strong – in fact, it’s the hardest substance in the human body – but it is not indestructible.
A dental crown is needed to restore function and appearance when teeth start to break down. You may have a tooth that has already been filled multiple times and now requires a crown for support and protection. Teeth grinding and clenching (bruxism) is a significant factor in the wearing and erosion of your teeth and can cause a lot of damage before you realize it. Another case where we would recommend a crown is after root canal treatment for added strength and protection.
At Chippewa Creek Dental, we design all-porcelain esthetic dental crowns that are customized to blend beautifully with your smile. We can create crowns using the traditional method that requires two to three visits, or we can recommend state-of-the-art same-day crowns if you want to just get your crown placed and get on with your life.
Dental crowns made using porcelain or ceramic look natural and enhance your appearance while also protecting your oral health. If you have a damaged tooth and suspect you might need a crown, please call our office to arrange a consultation with one of our Seville, OH dentists.
If you are living with missing teeth, you know that the experience can take a toll on your ability to enjoy life. Fortunately, at Chippewa Creek Dental we offer several effective options for tooth replacement.
Dental implants in Seville, OH are the gold standard for tooth replacement and with good reason. Unlike other types of tooth replacement, an implant includes an artificial root that is surgically placed in your jaw and allowed to heal. The result is a healthy, durable foundation that can be restored with a crown, bridge or denture.
You may think you know all about dentures, but in recent years we have seen some remarkable advances in dental materials and techniques. Our high-quality dentures are fabricated by skilled technicians using the most updated materials and technology available today. The result is tooth replacement that allows you to speak, eat, and smile comfortably. If you are concerned about dentures that move and shift, we will be happy to talk to you about combining them with dental implants to hold the denture securely in place.
A dental bridge is a time-tested option for tooth replacement. The goal of a bridge is to fill the space left by a missing tooth to restore function and appearance.
If you are tired of living with a gap in your smile, please call Chippewa Creek Dental for a consultation. Our dentists will be happy to explain your options and choose the one that best fits your needs.
One of the most exciting advances in dentistry has been the introduction of dental implants. Implants have been used for over 40 years and have an impressive 95% success rate.
The thing that makes implants unique is that they replace both the missing tooth and its root. The foundation of an implant is a tiny titanium post that is placed surgically in your jaw. After the implant heals, we attach a crown or other restoration that completes your smile and allows you to eat, speak, and smile comfortably.
When you lose a tooth, bone in your jaw gradually dissolves and eliminates support for other teeth. Implants are the perfect solution because the titanium root stimulates the growth of healthy bone in the jaw. Your oral health also improves because an implant holds a space that prevents crowding and tooth misalignment.
With proper care, your implant will last a lifetime, making it a cost-effective option for tooth replacement. At some point in the future, we may need to replace the restoration, but the implant itself is a permanent part of your dental anatomy.

When supervised by a dentist, teeth whitening is perfectly safe. The stories you hear about burning or sensitivity are usually related to a user being too aggressive with store-bought products or those purchased online. Peroxide contained in these whiteners can lead to damage like gingivitis and oversensitivity of the gums. If you overdo it with products like whitening strips, you also risk wearing down the layer of enamel that protects the rest of your tooth.
It can be tempting to go with store-bought whiteners because they are so readily available. But you won’t have the benefit of consulting a professional if you encounter a problem. Also, over-the-counter whiteners typically use a generic boil-and-bite tray that may not fit properly, allowing the whitening gel to come into contact with the gums, causing sensitivity and pain.
If you are going to put effort into whitening, you owe it to yourself to check out professional treatments at our Seville, OH dental office. We offer both in-office treatments and convenient take-home kits complete with customized whitening trays.
With professional teeth whitening products, you have peace of mind knowing that your dentist is overseeing your treatment, and if something goes wrong, we’re here to help. If you would like to learn more about the benefits of professional whitening, please call us and we will be happy to arrange an appointment to meet with you and discuss your needs.
